Tips for Senior Session Locations | West Georgia Senior Photographer

Are you wondering where in the world you should take your Senior Portraits? There are so many options that it is hard to narrow down, so here are some tips to help you make that decision! Sometimes it just gets down to making a couple choices.

1. Natural or Urban? (Or both?) One way to narrow down your senior portrait location is to know whether you prefer a natural or urban setting. Do the outfits you want to wear work better in a field or with architecture? Or do you love both? That can be a possibility if you choose your locations carefully so that time permits. If you have your heart set on the Atlanta Skyline, you probably will have to stick to locations around that area, but I personally would love the challenge of finding as much variety as possible in one location!

Here, Courtney chose what I would call “small town urban” so we were able to get a variety of architecture in her set.

2. Favorite Location? Where do you love to be right now in your life? Is that your Grandparent’s farm, your high school stadium, or a favorite coffee shop? Is it on the lake or in your car? All of these are great choices for senior portraits! Choose a place that is uniquely you for one of your locations!

John Reed lived on his boat and had even started a fishing related company before graduating, so it was a natural choice for one of his locations!

3. Be Adventurous! Don’t be afraid to ask about a location or ask your photographer for recommendations. Many times, I would love to shoot somewhere new but need the excuse to do it. Go to your session with an open mind and even “normal” locations can look new if you’re open to a little adventure!

Carolyn, Anna Claire, and Amanda chose locations that were special to them or their parents.

So, the moral of the story is that the world is your playground when choosing portrait locations. Sometimes, we will have to get creative or give ourselves some extra time, but it is always worth it! Where would you love to have portraits taken?
